The Artist - Emmanuel Jarus
Emmanuel Jarusis a Canadian-born artist and muralist who lives around the globe. Jarus is inspired by the visual human experience. The narrative Jarus depicts in his approach communicates a story of individual spirit relevant to the metabolism of that particular neighborhood. A combination of acrylic, latex and aerosol paint brought together by his unique impressionist technic, create moving representations of the people he’s inspired by along his travels.
The Art - 'Offshore'
"Offshore" in SQUARE @ CASSIA, Batu Kawan was created by Emmanuel Jarus. The artwork depicts the life of the island of Penang, which is connected to the land, with fishermen preparing to go fishing and supplying the catch to people on land. The artwork communicates the concept of how each community group from different fields or different groups can contribute and support each other in urban society to achieve a better future for all.
The Artist - Caryn Koh
Previously being in the medical field, Caryn Koh has since rediscovered her passion in the arts. She graduated from Dasein Art Academy and was presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award in Fine Arts. She is also part of an art collective Titikmerah in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is currently based in Swindon, United Kingdom. She paints introspective and touching works often drawing inspiration from her personal life and relationships. She explores themes of life and suffering, implementing three dimensional elements into some of her emotional murals which expand the impact of her artwork into the real-world.
The Art - 'Connection'
Mural known as ‘Connection’ in SQUARE @ CASSIA by Caryn depicts her close friend, sitting cosily while grasping and looking down on a braided rope. The braided ropes in the painting represent connecting objects, such as bridges, representing the past and the possibility of the future. The girl clutches the braided rope, stands still and looks down at the rope in her hands, saying: She seems to be wondering what the future holds for this connection.
